ITEC Business Awareness & Professional Conduct

Business Awareness and Professional Conduct unit is not a stand alone Diploma and is normally taken as part of the Holistic Massage course.
Where students are enrolling in the Reflexology or Indian Head Course both Anatomy and Physiology and Business Awareness and Professional Conduct are a compulsory parts of the course and are taken as seperate units.
Approved Prior Learning (APL) may be awarded to those who have an existing ITEC Massage qualification or the equivelent that includes these units.
This unit is normally covered in one day as many aspects of the course are duplicated in other syllabus sections, but does involve course work to be completed at home

Business Awareness
- Accounting, double entry book keeping, VAT
- Business plan, cash flow forecast
- Advertising and promotion
- Retail, stock control, selling skills
- Employing staff, receptionist duties
- Sole trader, employment contract, partnership
Professional Conduct
- How to set up and operate a practice
- Legal requirements, relevant legislation
- Planning the interior of a treatment room
- Record keeping, licensing, confidentiality
- Building relationships with GP's / other therapists
- Professional ethics, therapist conduct
Students are expected to complete assignments as part of the course.
Theory examination - One hour - 50 multiple choice questions
Examinations
Examinations are usually held on a Sunday see dates, however this is not guaranteed and is subject to ITEC confirmation six weeks prior to examination date.
Examination Fee: £80 if taken seperately
Business Awareness and Professional Conduct if taken at the same time as Holistic Massage, Reflexology or Indian Head Massage is normally included in one examintion fee.
