Join one of the most rewarding & interesting therapies by learning how to mix your own blends to treat many physical and emotional disorders. This is so much more than an aromatic massage. Aromatherapist's can mix blends for the successful treatment of skin diseases, varicose ulcers, and fluid retention, PMT and numerous other conditions

Learn an aromatherapy massage; how to use oils in baths, inhalations, teas, compresses, gargles etc. Starter pack of essential oils are issued to each student as part of the course.

Students can study Aromatherapy with no previous massage experience and will be expected to study all seven technical and core units, complete course assignments and case studies. Upon completion of the course work students will enroll to sit theory Anatomy and Physiology and a practical body massage with an external examiner, all other units are assessed through course work and assignments.

APL - Approved prior learning may be awarded for any student already holding a recognised certificate in any of the following units .Students who already have a recognised A and P qualification need only attend part of the course and pay a reduced rate. See dates and fees for details. Please provide copies of certificates upon enrolment. Please be aware that APL applications are awarded 60% by ITEC which will effect the grade you can achieve on your exams!

Practical Examination:

• 1 hour examination:
• 15 minute consultation
• 45 minute treatment with 3 oral questions with ITEC external examiner

Assignments:

1. Less Common Pathology; 2 short assignments for each system (12 systems)Sample LCP Ass S3
2. Complementary Therapies; 4 short assignments in a choice of subjects Sample 1 CTH
3. Business Practice; Business plan including a variety of 15 short assignments Business Plan Assignment S1
4. Health Safety and Hygiene: 7 60 word assignments - Sample assignment HSH Assign S1
5. Essential Oil Assignment: 15 out of 42 oils as a short assignment Sample

Case Studies:

• 36 case studies; 6 Full body treatments on 6 different people
• 15 Individual Treatments ( Many of these can be done in class)
• 9 Methods of Use; i.e Baths, shampoo, gargle, compress, etc

Please note; This course does not include Anatomy and Physiology students requiring this element must study this separately in conjunction with the course.

Please bring with you:

• 2 large towels - bath sheets
• White or black tunic uniform or dress for practical sessions
• Antiseptic Wipes (tea tree or lavender wipes are acceptable)
• Antibacterial hand wash
• 2 Folders: One for case studies: one for course work to be presented to the examiner
• You are not expected to purchase all of the oils or purchase any oils prior to Module One. Discounted rates are available on oil sets at Devon Academy.
• Course Books: Introductory guide to Aromatherapy by Louise Tucker - 1-903348-14-7 - Holistic Books. Can be purchased from Devon Academy on enrolment and sent by post with confirmation.
