ITEC Holistic Massage Course - Devon Academy of Complementary Therapies.ITEC Holistic Massage Course - Devon Academy of Complementary Therapies

Holistic body massage is one of the oldest healing arts, treating the mind, body and spirit. An ancient art which developed from Chinese dynasties, through the Swedish massage movement to England. Holistic massage was once the main practice of the first physio therapists in this country and currently, when placed in the hands of a well qualified therapist with a thorough understanding of Anatomy and Physiology, continues to treat many physical and emotional conditions.

An ITEC Diploma may lead to a career working within the health, sports and leisure industry at clubs, cruise ships and spas, doctor's surgeries or even hospitals at home or abroad. ITEC is recognised worldwide in most countries and even those like Canada and America which have there own standards, ITEC students need only upgrade their qualifications to practice in these countries.

All are classes are small in order to give individual attention so enroll early to avoid disappointment!

Our fast Track courses are designed for students who are looking for and can cope with, a part time accelerated and intensive course that will give them an internationally recognized diploma in just a few months. Although there is no pre-requisite for this course students are recommended to have an educational background of at least 5 GCSE's or the equivalent.

It is an ITEC requirement that students either study or have a recognized Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology diploma; therefore all students without this qualification must take all parts of the course and prepare to devote at least 5 hours per week to home learning.

Students who already hold an A & P certificate must have achieved this after 2002, all qualifications prior to this date are not accepted by ITEC for APL approval. Certificates must be sent in on enrolment of the course to enable us to apply for Approved Prior Learning confirmation from ITEC prior to starting the course. Apl cannot be applied for in arrears.

The course is divided into seven core parts:

  1. Massage theory which includes; 30 case studies and treatments;
  2. Massage practical culminating in an examination including oral questions
  3. Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology (50 Multiple choice examination paper)
  4. Less Common Pathology assignment
  5. Business Plan Assignment
  6. Health, Safety and Hygiene Assignment

Review from Helen Page

“I chose to train with Gail Lowe of Devon Academy because, even though the Academy is on the opposite side of the country to my home, I felt I would do better learning there than at the many other schools whose websites I researched. I am now halfway through my first course and I really feel that I have made the right choice. In fact, I am already looking forward to taking further courses with Gail and the Devon Academy.” October 18, 2011
