ITEC International Level 3 Sports massage is an excellent internationally recognized qualification for massage therapists who wish to work within and alongside the sports industry. This challenging course is for existing therapists or personal trainers who wish not only to provide treatments for sports injuries and improve sporting performance but to successfully treat numerous "every day musculoskeletal injuries. This is an excellent course which gives you all the practical skills and knowledge necessary to qualify and gain insurance to practice as a Sports Massage therapist.
Tutors: Gail Lowe is a qualified nurse and remedial therapist with over twenty five years clinical experience. She trained and studied at the Northern Institute of Massage and has worked with the medical profession, osteopaths and chiropractors and has maintained "many Olympic athletes" at peak performance during her varied career.
Derek Lowe is a qualified sports massage therapist and works closely with a physiotherapists and local sports clubs and Rugby teams. He specializes in Soft tissue release, NMT and Muscle Energy Techniques.

This course is recommended for therapists who already hold a recognised Level 3 sports or body massage qualification and who would like to work within the sports industry at sports events, with olympic athletes and sports clubs.
The main aim of the ITEC Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy is to enable learners to gain the practical and theoretical skills necessary to provide Sports Massage Therapy. It has been designed for practitioners currently working in Sport and Active Leisure, including Osteopaths, Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists and Massage Therapists. The purpose of this specialist qualification is to enrich practitioners’ understanding of advanced anatomical, physiological and pathological principles relevant to the application of Sports Massage. It will provide learners with advanced palpation skills and those needed to analyse posture and range of movement. It will also provide practitioners with a range of advanced skills and massage techniques to prevent and manage injury in Sport and Active Leisure. Practitioners will learn to critically evaluate massage strategies and methods to inform on future treatments.

This qualification will be internally and externally assessed using the assessment of skills as set out below. Once all of the treatment evidence documentation, assignments and underpinning knowledge have been completed the learner will have a final practical examination carried out by the ITEC Examiner.
